Switched my whole family to Tattwas. The quality is unreal and I genuinely feel the difference every morning.

One plate. Pure copper. Water the way nature intended. 🟠

Rest it in your matka, dispenser or storage vessel overnight, and turn ordinary drinking water into Tamra Jal — the copper-enriched water Indian households have trusted for three thousand years. Reverse osmosis and ultraviolet purification made our water safe, and in doing so stripped away the trace minerals our bodies evolved alongside. What reaches your glass is purified of contaminants, but also of character.

Ayurveda holds that all creation arises from five Tattwas, and among them Jal — water — is the great carrier, moving nourishment and vitality through every cell. The Charaka and Sushruta Samhita describe resting drinking water in copper as Tamra Jal Sevan: to kindle the digestive fire, harmonise the doshas, and cleanse gently each day. Tattwas revives that ritual, not as a bottle for one, but as a plate for the whole home.

The quiet worker at the bottom of your vessel. A solid plate of 100% pure, uncoated copper — 11.8 inches long, 3.2 inches wide, a substantial 225 grams, made in India. Rest it in your matka, water dispenser, filter tank or steel drum. No electricity, no cartridges, no plastic, and never a refill. Where a copper bottle or stem enriches about a litre for one person, the plate serves a 10 to 15 litre vessel for the whole family, keeps the vessel you already own, and wipes flat to clean.

Three steps to Tamra Jal. Rinse the plate and stand it in a clean 10 to 15 litre vessel. Let the water rest undisturbed for 8 to 12 hours as copper ions release slowly. Pour, and begin. A healthy adult using that vessel and soak gets roughly 0.13 to 0.60 milligrams of copper per litre — well inside the World Health Organization guideline of 2.0 mg/L, and a sensible contribution toward the 0.9 mg adult daily requirement.

Care. Rinse at every refill. Once a week, rub with lemon and salt, or tamarind the traditional way, then rinse and dry — this is a safety step, not a cosmetic one. A warm brown patina is normal. A green or blue-green crust is not: that is verdigris, and it must be scrubbed off before use. Never use the plate with lemon water, buttermilk, juice or any acidic drink, and never with hot water — both strip copper far too aggressively.

When not to use it. Copper is an essential mineral, not a health drink, and part of using it well is knowing the limits. Do not use if you have Wilson's disease or are on copper-chelation therapy, and never for infants under 1 year — an infant's liver cannot yet regulate copper. Consult your doctor first if you have a liver condition such as cirrhosis, hepatitis or fatty liver, or chronic kidney disease; for children aged 1 to 5; during pregnancy or breastfeeding; or if you take a copper supplement or multivitamin. Your body has a built-in warning: copper turns water bitter or metallic above roughly 2.5 mg/L. If your water tastes metallic it is too concentrated — shorten the soak or use a larger vessel.

The evidence. Water contaminated with cholera, E. coli and Salmonella, then stored in copper for 16 hours, yielded no recoverable live bacteria (Sudha et al., 2012, Journal of Health, Population and Nutrition). Copper's antimicrobial action, the oligodynamic effect, is the same reason hospitals fit copper-alloy handles and rails.

Tattwas is a wellness product, not a medicine. It does not diagnose, treat or cure any disease. If you have a medical condition, speak to your doctor.
